Pamela Richardson Shepp, LCPC
Director of Personnel, Internship Coordinator
By the time you make the call for counseling, Life has taken a toll in some serious regard. Brokenness has come upon you in relationship, in spirit, in feeling overwhelmed by challenges. In a serendipitous manner, we come together, as you seek healing and I, as your counselor, strive to be a help and an encourager into a new and brighter day. It is a deep honor and privilege for me to embrace the broken soul and to be trusted to join in the journey from being lost, stuck, or in pain into the possibility of wellness and joy.
Pamela is a licensed clinical professional counselor with a master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Loyola University Maryland. Her clinical focus expands across the life span: With children – Pam engages with children who struggle with behavioral issues, emotional regulation challenges, anxiety, grief, or divorce of parents. With teens and young adults – Counseling provides value in managing the intensity of this important period of transition and identity formation. Pam has a heart for those in this developmental stage. With adults – Life stressors are numerous, whether in relationship, grief/loss, life transitions, aging, or mental health conditions. “How did I get here? And how can I move forward?” are questions that can lead to rich self-exploration in therapy. Pam comes alongside the individual, tailoring a holistic, integrative approach in counseling. With families – Serving as an observer, mediator, guide, Pam helps families reconnect, find solutions to issues, and work on healthy ways to communicate. With Engaged Couples – Pam is a certified facilitator for Prepare-Enrich and welcomes couples to participate in pre-marital counseling.
Pam received a strong calling into the field of professional counseling in mid-life. Before her work at Vital Sources, she used her degree in music therapy/ music education in the fields of special education and early childhood. Later, she joined the staff at her church as an associate in pastoral care. Pam and her husband, both originally from Western New York, love calling the mild mid-Atlantic their home. Three children fill out their family, two of which joined the family through the joy of adoption. The simple pleasures of friends and family, music, hiking with her golden retriever, and a good cup of coffee bring enrichment to Pam’s life.
